While in the area recently, my friends and I decided to check it out.

The menu is wide and varied: nachos, tacos, tortas, molcajetes, fajitas and more.

But first, chips and salsa.

And because that was so tasty, I went with a plate of nachos for my meal.

Frozen strawberry margaritas all around.

You can get "traditional nachos" or "off the grill" nachos.

I went with an order of "Nachos Libre" which had queso, shredded beef, black beans, rice, corn, pico de gallo, sour cream, guacamole, jalapenos and queso fresco.

There's a reason that Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is one of my favorite movies.

Among other reasons, the movie  shows the fun, inside look at how chocolate is made. And who doesn't like chocolate?

In Asheville, the chocolate factory equivalent is French Broad.

This chocolate factory gives tours of their farm to bean process.

It also has a cafe where you can purchase their truffles or drinking chocolates.

And I ordered the "liquid truffle," which they're well-known for.

It's like a melted chocolate bar!

It was very thick and rich - unlike anything I've had before.

Dutch Haus Restaurant is located in Lewisburg on a golf course.

It focuses on BBQ and steak.

We made our way to the dining rom and seated ourselves.


The entryway has a variety of specials available.

We perused the menu - in search for something warm on this chilly day.



And I ultimately decided on the - Dutch Haus Special Made In House: Slow-Roasted Pulled Pork BBQ on Roll With Cole Slaw.

Plus a side of twice-baked potato!

This past weekend, I was fortunate to attend the Low Country Mountaineers 12th Annual BBQ Bash and Pepperoni Roll Bake Off.

Not only do I love any event that celebrates my alma mater, but I loved heading to Charleston, South Carolina, once again.

The event is truly remarkable. Held at The Citadel, there is great bbq from a local vendor, Mister Bees chips, and a homemade pepperoni roll bake off.


And, I had the opportunity to award the overall baker.

There were six or so rally tasty pepperoni rolls.

Some had a garlic exterior which made it almost like a breadstick.

Others were baked longways and cut into pieces.

Others were perfectly rolled up like little eggrolls. 

I chose #7, which just so happened to be Sara Roth - the organizer of the event! It was a great event, and I can't wait to attend again!

Angela's on the River is a St. Albans restaurant with a focus on seafood.

Angela's on the River is a locally owned family restaurant with a variation of cuisine. Located in Saint Albans, WV, we have three dining facilities including a bar. Come and enjoy a delicious meal with us!

Sara and I went to check out this restaurant in her new town.



This was at Christmas time (if that tells you how backed up on blogs I am) - and it was decorated beautifully.

We were led downstairs to an open dining space that overlooks the river.

The menu features salads, steak, seafood, pastas, chicken and pork.

It's a tough decision, but I went with "Crab Stuffed Whitefish" - Chilton House whitefish with Angela's homemade crab stuffing.

We started with warm rolls.
