Charleston Edition: The Riverside Anchor

Riverside Anchor

I've heard about Riverside Anchor for quite some time.

Riverside AnchorWhy? Because of its legendary "Tomato Pie."

Riverside AnchorThe restaurant has gone through some leadership changes, but the pie remains.

Riverside AnchorIt is fresh dough with garlic, olive oil glaze, and "secret spices."

Riverside AnchorIt's topped with mozzarella cheese, diced tomatoes and whatever toppings you'd like to add.

Riverside AnchorSo I got one of those original pies to try.

Riverside AnchorAnd, I also got a sandwich - a "squeak" here.

Riverside AnchorIt's served on fresh baked dough, topped with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise. This is the "Pip Squeak," and it has ham, turkey, bacon and mozzarella cheese.
