Next up for my Providence, Rhode Island, adventure was a visit to Seven Stars Bakery.

Oh my goodness, the case was full of all kinds of pastries and baked goods.

Brownies, biscotti, muffins, biscuits...

It was quite a busy little place.

I ordered a maple latte.


And a ginger biscuit.

But honestly, I could've ordered this entire place.

Josh's drink ended up not coming out, and he was rewarded with a "free specialty beverage."

But overall, quite tasty!

My first time visiting Rhode Island! We made a day-trip to Providence to try all the things.

First on the list: Nick's on Broadway.

Nicks on Broadway is a contemporary American restaurant located in the West End of Providence. Nicks specializes in seasonally inspired, locally focused food, put forth humbly with thoughtfulness, passion and honesty.

Kaitlynn ordered some pork belly.

I ordered a cauliflower soup that came with creme fraiche and chargrilled pesto bread.

And, a parfait of house-baked granola, fresh fruit, Narrangansett Creamery yogurt and Aquidneck honey. What's your favorite dish here?

My bestie, Kaitlynn, knows me well. When I came to visit recently, the first place she took me was to an ice cream shop: The Scoop N Scootery. They deliver, but on this day, we went in to check it out.

I went for the "Caramel Cone Crunch," which had totally turle ice cream, waffle cone, caramel sauce  and whipped cream. What's your favorite?

After eating at Mezzogiorno, literally right across the aisle, I went to Baba Bar to kill some more time.

A Mediterranean eatery with a menu crafted by Nicholas Elmi. Baba Bar features flavor and spices reminiscent of the coast, offering small plates, spreads and wraps; a perfect light meal before a flight. The mezze (small plates) include a traditional selection of hummus, babaganoush, stuffed grape leaves, Greek salads, roasted vegetables, tabbouleh and much more.  Entrees include skewers and kebabs.

Simply find an open seat, sit down, order from the touch-screen menu, swipe your card, and food will be delivered.

I went with a chocolate milk (why does flying always make me order the most random drinks?) and whipped feta and olive dip.

Truth be told, I could live on snack items like this. Have you ever been?

I don't know what everyone else does during a long layover but I can tell you that I seek out the best food.

Philadelphia's airport has some great food, including Mezzogiorno.

Chef Stalin Bedon brings a menu featuring thin-crust, Neapolitan-style pizzas with artisanal toppings to the terminal with Mezzogiorno. The individually-sized pies are baked at nearly 700 degrees for the perfect crunch. Diners may choose from a list of composed pies or build their own. The pizza menu is complemented by a selection of housemade meatballs, antipasti, light entrees, and snacks. The wine list pulls heavily from Southern Italy and the beer selection focuses on regional ales and lagers, including Tröegs HopBack Amber from Hershey, PA and Yuengling Traditional Lager from Pottstown. This sleek modern Italian eatery has the feel of riding through Milan on a yellow and chrome Vespa. The main palette elements include sunshine-yellow backpainted glass, a sleek black bar top, zebrano wood walls, and polished stainless steel accents.

It was a cool concept - you look for an open seat, place your order on the screen, even run your own credit card and then food magically is delivered to you.

I ordered this meatball sub that was plated all fancy, as well as a side of truffle fries. Have you been here?

When I made a trip to Philadelphia, I tried the two famous cheesesteaks back to back: Geno's and Pat's.

But I hadn't had a chance to try Tony Luke's. So when I found myself at the airport and a location nearby, I decided to check it out.

I got my cheesesteak with onions, of course.

Who makes your favorite cheesesteak?

Post-hike at Hanging Rock, Kayla and I were exhausted.

So we stopped at Queen's Pizza & Subs.

The menu is quite large - pizzas, calzones, hot subs, cold subs, pasta, wings, and more.

I first started with a house salad with French dressing, and an accompaniment of bread.

My main meal was stuffed shells - one of my favorites. What's your favorite here?

Korner Kafe in Union had been on my to-try list for quite some time.

I had read about it being a unique restaurant in Union, and I had wanted to try it ever since.

When Kayla and I ventured to the area to climb Hanging Rock, we stopped here for lunch.

The restaurant is homey, comfy and serves homestyle meals.

You can get breakfast all day.

But on this day, I was feeling lunch.

One of my favorite things on the menu was the BBQ sandwich - and I could get it with a side of chicken tenders!

Who can pass up a sweet treat?

Not me, that's for sure.

When I saw "A Piece of Cake" in Rock, I had to make a stop.

The bakery had a bit of eery dessert lining its counter: cupcakes, cookies and more.

I set my sights on a brownie, covered in chocolate and sprinkles.
