The Farmstand Trail Passport Event was held today, which encouraged people to support local farmstands across West Virginia.

How It Worked:

✅ Pick up a passport at a participating farmstand

✅ Visit 5 participating farmstands between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

✅ Make a purchase to receive a stamp or sticker in the passport

✅ Write your name and phone number on the back of the passport

✅ Leave the completed passport at the final stop to be entered for prizes!

There were 60 participating farmstands located throughout West Virginia, so I planned a Wood County loop.

Rolls on the River 2026 was held on June 19 at Haddad Riverfront Park. This special event supports the Legacy Scholarship at Charleston Montessori School, helping make authentic Montessori education accessible to more children in our community. As a judge, I was able to enjoy delicious pepperoni rolls, beer tastings, plus there were inflatables for the kids, artisan vendors, and a fun riverfront atmosphere with friends and family. Some of my favorite pepperoni rolls included a minimum amount of bread and equal parts pepperoni & cheese. The Bullock Distillery was organized in 2017 by Dusta Tanner, John Bullock and Tighe Bullock when the trio remodeled the historic building at 121 Washington Street, West, in Charleston. The distillery opened its doors in 2021 and produces a variety of spirits: bourbon, gin, moonshine, vodka and more. They have been offering cocktail making classes in their space for a while now, but I just recently was able to attend my first one with Erin. We started with a little tour of the facility and learned some background about the distillery. Like: The Bullock Distillery draws its water from Bullock's Cave on Falling Spring Mountain in Greenbrier County. Then, we learned some of the basic barware that we would be using - the jigger, the strainer, the Boston shaker, etc. I learned you're always supposed to keep the back of the spoon against the back of the jar when stirring. Finally, we started on our first of three cocktails for the evening. It was the "Johnny Jump Up" and featured gin, blackberry sage simple syrup, lemon juice and lavender bitters. The second wasn't the "Honey Fire Smash," but we didn't have an alternate title, so it featured vodka, honey lavender syrup, lemon juice and lavender bitters. Our finaly was "Forsynthias," which featured bourbon, banana bread simple syrup and black walnut bitters (plus a toasted walnut!). Each class has different cocktails -- I'd love to make a collection of them all!

Columbus, Ohio’s historic North Market recently hosted its annual Apron Gala as part of the market’s 150th anniversary celebration.



Held each year as a fundraiser, the Apron Gala supports North Market and its nonprofit operator, the North Market Development Authority, whose mission centers on preserving the historic market while fostering local entrepreneurship and independent businesses.



North Market dates back to 1876, when it opened as one of several public markets serving Columbus. Today, it remains the city’s only original public market still operating at its historic location.
