River's Edge Cafe is a St. Albans restaurant that is a staple in town.

The menu has salads, wings, and more - but those were the main ones I was eyeing!

I ordered six boneless honey bbq wings and nachos to snack on while I caught up on blogs. I did not realize how gigantic this meal would be, so I packed up the nachos for late and downed those wings.

There's just something about wings that reminds me of college. Satisfying.

That giant pile of nachos did not go to waste. Jalapenos were peppered through, giving it some kick. What's your favorite dish here?

Drip Coffee is located in Area 34, a coworking space in Hurricane.

The coffee shop offers a variety of coffees, teas, pastries, and their specialty, avocado toast.

The space is adorable - with a cozy, rustic vibe.

Inside the shop, there are just a few spaces to sit, but there are plenty just outside the door in the open space.

I went for a mocha freeze - which is essentially a mocha with blended ice. But there were a lot of drinks that sounded fabulous, like this lavender latte.

The pastries looked delish, but I wanted to try their specialty: avocado toast.

It was tasty!

Buffalo Trail Restaurant not only has the dining establishment, but also cabins and cottages.








The restaurant has an 85 seat indoor “lodge style” dining room and bar and 85 seat covered outdoor patio with adjacent waterfall and koi pond.

I was seated inside and looked over the menu, where you can make your own burger and one of the meat options was bison.

So I ordered a bison burger with ketchup, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions and mushrooms. And a side of mac & cheese!

Sophisticated Hound Brewing Company is one of West Virginia's newest breweries!

Located in Princeton, this brewery has been on tap around the state for some time but recently opened its own taproom.

At the time of this writing, it's only open on Saturdays but word is the owner plans to open up more days, as well.

The first thing I noticed was the outdoor space with lights strung overhead and the Patch Whiskey mural.

So cool!

Inside, there are a good bit of tables and a bar area.

I ordered a flight of all their beers on tap: Racer 8 American Stout, 1863 Pale Ale, RYEbellion, Tail Chaser, Mahaffey's Irish Red and the El Jefe.

My favorites were the 1863 Pale Al and Tail Chaser.

The owner also talked about how the name for the brewery was inspired by their dog, who is a retired racing greyhound.


That's so sweet.

We also got some snacks!

I went for the spinach artichoke dip, and friends got the pretzels.

Have you heard of coal candy? I hadn't, until recently.

Coal Country Kandies serves up these sweets - in addition to a full cafe menu - in their Princeton location.


The coal candy is like rock candy - just with an Appalachian flair.


But, I also spotted a pepperoni roll on the menu. And it's not super common to see pepperoni rolls on the menu in this corner of the state, so I wanted to check it out.
