I'm such a sucker for any restaurant that has "Appalachia" in its name. I feel like it's speaking to my soul.



Appalachian Coffee House is a really cute, trendy coffee shop in a new plaza area in Mount Nebo.



The space features this book section. So you can pick up a book to read while at the coffee shop!



The menu features standard hot drinks, specialty drinks, smoothies, and some snacks.



I love their branding!

Little mini pepperoni rolls! They have one single slice of pepperoni! I had to try one.



And, for coffee, I tried the Mountain Mama - which is a white chocolate mocha with caramel and vanilla shots. MMmm.

Craft Kings is a new-ish restaurant in Mount Nebo, near Summersville, in a new building that is serving up inventive dishes and local craft beer.



The interior of the space has a nice wrap-around bar, but the real gem is outside.



The deck is surrounded by trees and giant umbrellas provide some nice shade.



The menu has some really fun options, like loaded onion crowns, mahi mahi fish tacos and more.

The PB&J Burger! I thought that was unique. There was a peanut sauce and a raspberry sauce, so it wasn't overwhelming. But different!

If you're a longtime reader, you know that ice cream is one of my favorite hobbies. Seriously.

So, on the way back from our weekend trip to Columbus, Dawn & I stopped at Whit's Frozen Custard. 



I went with one of their specialties - "Cavalier" - hot fudge, hot caramel and pecans.



You can get it one of two ways: mixed up for a Whitster or just on top for a sundae. That's a Whitster!



And, if you're a big fan, you can get it to-go.




What's your favorite flavor?

My first time trying White Castle was in Louisville, pre-blog. So when we were driving back from Columbus, I gave in and figured it would be nice to have one White Castle mention on the blog.



I'll spare you an official review, but I do love showing off regional foods - and this one definitely has a cult following.



I got one tiny, singular cheeseburger. I'm sure the workers probably thought I was crazy or didn't know how small they'd be. But it was a perfect size. Small, steamed and onions a plenty. I don't hate it.

The Thurman Cafe is known for its "Thurmanator" - Bottom bun, mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickle, banana peppers, 12 ounce burger, bacon, cheddar, another 12 ounce burger, sautéed mushrooms & onions, ham, mozzarella & American cheese, top bun served with fries and a pickle spear



Don't worry, I went for a more "regular" size burger, but it was still quite large.

It's quite packed, so we had made reservations but couldn't make them. Then, we got lucky and strolled right on in the next day! It seems going earlier is definitely the better route.

I went with The Thurman Burger - Our head honcho overloaded with ham, sautéed mushrooms & onions, mozzarella & American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, banana peppers, and mayo with chips and a pickle spear




Honestly, I could only finish a small portion of this beast. But, look at that melty cheese and mmm. Tasty.
