Buxton Hall BBQ is well-known in the foodie community.

It has been named a "Best BBQ in the South in 2019" by Southern Living.

"Come to Pitmaster Elliott Moss’ Asheville Valhalla for the Carolina-style, whole-hog barbecue and stay for James Beard Award-nominated pastry Chef Ashley Capps’ rotating selection of pies."

So, not only is the BBQ unbelievable, the desserts are to-die-for.

The BBQ here has a few different sauces: East Carolina Vinegar, Red Sauce. XX Vinegar and XX Red.

I've not had a lot of great experiences with vinegar bbq sauce, but this perfectly accented the pulled pork.

It wasn't overpowering and just added some nice flavor. Very good.

And, I had to try all of them, of course.

I was excited they even had a white bbq sauce - which I would eat every day if I could!

The sides here are also not to be missed. The mac & cheese was so creamy, that cornbread was a delight, and potato salad added some tang.

For dessert - the best banana cream pie I've ever had. Nilla wafers, bananas ... just, wow. Maybe the best dessert I've ever had.

I'm on a slow journey to Tudor's Biscuit World domination.

As I'm making my way through all the various locations, I've also been tryin a good bit of the menu.

But on this trip, I went with my old stand-by: the sausage biscuit with grape jelly.

It always hits the spot. What's your favorite biscuit?

There were some really great places I visited in Asheville that I wish I could've spent some more time in.

For example, I really loved the bookstore and champagne bar, Battery Park Book Exchange. We spent some time here, but I could've spent an entire day.

Then, there was a cool shop called Rocket Fizz that has soda, candy and all kinds of random gifts.

The soda flavors were unlike any I've ever tried.

But definitely unique and fun.

Camden Corner is a small convenience store that is complete with chicken, donuts and more.

And while driving through the area, I stopped here for some quick breakfast.

They had a number of donuts available, including blueberry, cream-filled, powdered, glazed and more.

And I went for a maple creme filled one. Yum!
