Tiger's Ice Cream & Grill drew me in with the promise of ice cream and kept me intrigued with the grill portion.



Located in Chapmanville, this restaurant is decked out in orange and serves up all things comfort food: pizza, chicken and dumplings, meatloaf, wings, hotdogs, hamburgers, the list goes on.



Every so often, I get a craving for a "Peanut Buster Parfait," which is the branded Dairy Queen treat that has vanilla, soft serve, hot fudge, and peanuts. When I see a local version, it's difficult for me to pass it up. So I ordered one, and it was every bit as good as Dairy Queen's version. The ice cream was a bit thicker in consistency and icy and texture, but I almost appreciated that textural difference.



I also purchased a hotdog and side of potato salad. But, I really want to try the tiger paw, which is a mini calzone. Next time.



The hotdog was fine; I wish it had a seer or snappier skin. but, no real problems here. Simple, and straightforward.



same goes for the potato salad. It was pretty mild in flavor and texture. but, the trio made me feel like I was in the middle of summer. And that is a great feeling.

Let's stop at another Gino's location because we have almost hit 'em all at this point.



The Chapmanville location had a few different options than the other locations. Most notably, they had chicken strips.



Usually, you are just finding pizza, calzones, pasta, and subs. So, the new menu item here intrigued me.



I will say, there was another location that had fresh fried chicken, and it was pretty good. So, my expectations were pretty high here.



But, the chicken strips were just OK. They weren't hand-breaded and fried. I imagine they were more frozen and fried, but without that super crunchy coating. You know the one I'm talking about: the greasy, super crunchy, golden brown, coating.



these were more like home style. I could see these coming from my kitchen on any given weekday. They were satisfactory for a lunch. But some extra crunch on both the chicken and the fries would take it to the next level.

Tell me: What's your favorite Tudor's Biscuit? I've almost made my way through the whole menu. I've enjoyed the Rocket so far, and my old standby: the sausage biscuit. But when I found myself in Chapmanville, I decided it was time to try another new one.



None of their named biscuits have chicken... but did you know they have a chicken biscuit?! Look out Chick-fil-a. So I ordered one. And had I thought this through, I would've made a nice combo with hot sauce and honey (love that hot and sweet). 



Overall, this was a good biscuit! It's definitely a bit dry without some cheese or something, so honey would've taken this up a level. But I liked it! It's not as greasy as some of the other meats and not gigantic, so it's a nice change up.

Driving through Chapmanville, I stumbled upon Dairy Delight.

This restaurant has a focus on ice cream, but also has a variety of tasty burgers, hot dogs, chicken strips and more.

I ordered the Peanut Fudge Parfait, which is like a peanut buster parfait from Dairy Queen. 

They even have ice cream cakes and other treats ready-made for pick-up.

But you can't go wrong with this flavor combo.

One place that has been on my to-try list for quite some time is The Surrey House in Chapmanville. I've heard from folks in the area who claims it's great country food, and that's a good enough reason for me.

The Surrey House is, well, a house. I love the homey vibe and comfortable atmosphere. I walked inside and it was a bit quiet so I had to find someone to seat me. Once I did, I took a look over the menu. Specials for the day included BBQ sandwich, pork chops and salmon patties dinner.

But there was something that stood out to me -- the Monte Cristo. It not only was the first thing on the menu, but that's not a common thing at restaurants. So, I went for it. Deep-fried ham and cheese sandwich, sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with preserves on the side. Plus a side of onion rings.

After a bit of a wait, I received my sandwich. I was worried at first when I saw no preserves, but not to fear, they were simply forgotten. It's an average size - plain white bread, but tasty.

The deep-fried sandwich makes for a perfectly melty cheese, a nice crisp crust, and the sweetness of the preserves hits all those spots that make me say mmmm. The ham is lunchmeat - rather than freshly carved pieces - but no matter The onion rings were quite large and lovely.

This was a good replication of a monte cristo. I love the sweet and savory, the creamy and the crisp. I think this may have been the best monte cristo if there was a more substantial bread or a higher cut of ham. Very tasty, nonetheless.
