Any time there's a new coffee shop in West Virginia, I get excited.
It doesn't matter where it is, I'm going to make a trip to get there.
Recently, I stopped by Stonewall Coffee in Clarksburg.
It's this really cool spot in downtown Clarksburg that's almost a bit hidden.
There were a ton of great options to choose from, but I went with the namesake - Stonewall Mocha.
This drink has white chocolate, swirls of caramel, steamed milk and espresso. I got it iced.
Plus there were pastries!
I went with a blueberry muffin! Can never go wrong there.
One of my favorite things to do in a new city is just walk down the blog and nibble on snacks as we go. That's what we ended up doing this morning in Cambridge when we ran into Simon's Coffee Shop.
This coffee shop is long and slender, with tables lined along the side and the counter on the opposite.
So, I ordered a simple iced caramel coffee and a toffee cookie.
We hung out here for a bit. I really love hanging out in coffee shops working away while people weave in and out throughout the day.
This was a relaxing place to have a drink, a bite of a cookie (okay maybe the whole thing) and catch up with your friend.
Bridgeport is doing such cool stuff - from food to events.
One new development is Koin Coffee & Crepes.
This local coffee shop roasts its own beans and has the perfect accompaniment: crepes.
So I went to check it out and get my tummy full.
The space is really minimal and modern.
The coffee is roasted in-house.
And the crepes are made right in front of you.
I ordered an 8 oz. honey latte, because it looked like their own spin on a traditional latte.
And I also ordered a blueberry, strawberry and nutella crepe to go.
It's tough to think about an even better combo than these two!
The warm and bitter complements the sweet and soft. Perfect breakfast.
If I had to combine two delicious items, it would be coffee and ice cream.
And this shop in Nutter Fort beat me to it: Black and White Coffee and Ice Cream.
This shop is so cute, with clean white and black accents and a cool, modern vibe.
The menu features espresso, coffee, pastries, ice cream - and my favorite - the specialties.
Those include brownie a la mode, double delight (which is an ice cream donut sandwich) and "Black N White" which comes in a shake or cup. And, it's a mixture of espresso an ice cream. This is the kind of fusion I'm here for.
I went for a Black N White shake with Moose Tracks ice cream.
This is my favorite way to consume coffee.
While here, I also had to grab a pepperoni roll.
And a brownie with peanut butter icing.
Have you been?
Because one coffee shop in Nashville is never enough, Bri and I had to hit up one more before leaving town: Retrograde Coffee.
Retrograde Coffee is a very modern, clean coffee shop that has beautiful brass finishes and a hipster vibe.
Bri's friend works here, so she's super familiar with the menu, but I ended up going with the Smoked Shagbark Latte.
This latte has a sweet smoky flavor that was so, so good!
Like, I could drink this every day.
And, I went with one of these local cookies from HiFi Cookies.

Retrograde Coffee is here! Sure, we serve a mean cup of coffee, but the shop is about more than just that. It’s a place to bring people together, a place to pause for a moment on your daily path to collect your thoughts. We hope to see you soon!

We love David Bowie and you should too. Have you ever heard David Bowie live at The Rainbow? Well if you haven’t you should! Anyway this cookie is awesome, filled white chocolate chips and covered in rainbow sprinkles!A delicious smoky drink and a sweet cookie? There's not a better combo.
