The Handcrafted Cooperative is an amazing event that brings together talented local makers to sell their wares all in one place.
Think of it as Etsy in real life.
Kayla and I went to check it out, and we browed all the great local items. And, of course, we had lunch at the local food truck.
Wildflour is primarily located in North Central West Virginia and serves up local food in fresh ways.
The truck's name is Violet: "Violet is our beautiful behemoth of a street kitchen. At 25 feet long & 8 feet wide, she houses all the equipment and work space we need to make magic happen. She came to us in the Fall of 2017 as a Vegan-Latin American lunch truck. After a good wash and rebranding, we have converted her to our local lunch trailer, catering food studio, and traveling festival foodie."
Before we had a name, we had a passion. That crazy habitat of hard work, days of planning, the copious lists written on every scrap of paper, and late night cram sessions are where we thrive. Turn up the heat in the kitchen & we kick into gear.
I have the rare opportunity to work in harmony with my mama and we get into our groove and can weather the crazy storm that is food service with little more than some grunts, nods, and our unspoken kitchen shorthand.
Our place of choice is behind the scenes, the cogs and spokes of the operation. We love to watch people enjoy the company of their family and friends when celebrating life's joys. Its an honor to be included in those priceless days and momentous occasions in a capacity we can turned furrowed brows into easy smiles.
Through the week, we love to be a part of your day, sharing love through what we enjoy the most- good food. We come from a family that has instilled the need to uphold high standards of cleanliness, service, and excellent hospitality.
Life is crazy and can be a little bit wild. But we always try to bloom where we're planted and thrive in any environment. We do what we do because we cannot imagine doing anything else. And nothing makes it better than when you can do what you love and share that along with a smile with everyone that crosses our path.
I ordered a "Slammin' Salmon Sammie" with hand-pattied salmon cake, organic greens, tomato, dill mayo, grilled bun and served with chips.
And, also hushpuppies! Which is something they're known for.

Food trucks are always super exciting to me, and a new one serving up pho and banh mi has entered the Morgantown scene.
3-0-PHO to Go is such a clever name, and they are finding their way all over town.
The combos are a good way to try a few different items. I ordered "The Pho Sho," which is half a banh mi and a small pho plus a water.
It gets all packaged up and ready to go. Pho plus sauces & lime.
And banh mi!

My super talented friend Kayla has launched her 10-year dream of owning an eggroll food truck. The truck part is a coming soon, and to get there, the business is up doing pop-up shops around Charleston with some of the most unique egg rolls you'll find anywhere!
Eggs Will Roll was born from this party. And, they've added new eggrolls, too - including a West Virginia hot dog one with hot dogs, tater tots, cole slaw, onions and chili with a mustard aioli sauce.
At Kinship Goods in April, they had a mac & cheese, jambalaya and West Virginia hot dog. And, they'll be doing lots more events coming up soon!
West Virginia hot dog, macaroni & cheese and jambalaya. Have you tried them?

Cinnamon roll
Campfire Mocha - classic mocha flavored with marshmallow syrup and a hint of hickory smoke!
Number 42 - Scratch-made buttermilk donut, made with real, whole ingredients, using local when available. Lightly flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. What's the story with the name? "Well, the 42nd recipe's a charm - we were determined to bring you a donut with ingredients you can pronounce."
The Great Pumpkin - The scratch-made Number 42 buttermilk donut rolled in cinnamon sugar and topped with pumpkin pie, brown sugar vanilla bean cream, and drizzled with homemade JQ Dickinson salted caramel.
The Apple Orchard - The scratch-made Number 42 buttermilk donut covered i na tangy apple cider glaze and topped with West Virginia-grown fried apples, brown sugar vanilla bean cream, and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.
Huntington's resident badass food truck has been elusive for me. The baby blue truck with graffiti-esque writing and a hand sign insignia is well-known for creating some tasty bites.
Southside Sliders changes locations, is only open for certain hours, and it just hasn't meshed up with my schedule when I'm in town - until now!
So, I got a classic cheeseburger slider with all the fixins (mayo, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, pickles, onions, tomatoes). It's a solid slider! I wish I had a better picture, but once they get all wrapped up, they get a little bit smooshed. Regardless, even if it's a small patty - it's well seasoned and tasty.
Now, the "pony express," which is a teriyaki pork tenderloin, is served on a King's Hawaiian roll, topped with mayo and melted baby swiss cheese. This was SO good! It's simple, truly, but the flavors meld together for one really tasty slider.
Also, I had to get an order of the cheesy tots. My only problem was not thinking to get ketchup for the long trek home. Regardless, they made for a welcome companion.

It has been a lifelong dream to start some type of deli or sandwich shop. And when this food truck craze starting growing, I knew it was the opportunity I needed to pursue. And I could have not picked a better person to help me with this adventure-Michael "Special" Williams. I have observed his work discipline for many years and really appreciate his passion for making good food. Together we hope to bring good food and great times to Huntington and surrounding areas. This food truck specializes in sliders and tater tots. There's a pork bbq slider, greek slider, cheeseburger slider, grilled cheese slider, teriyaki pork tenderloin, buffalo chicken and fried chicken. Plus, there are some specials - like the egg salad slider, quesadilla burger slider and cheesecake chimichangas.
Sliders are miniature burgers and sandwiches, about the size of your fist and ranging in price from $3 to $4.50.
"Our top seller is The Greek ($4.50), which is a burger made from ground lamb with a yogurt sauce, kalamata olives, lettuce, tomato, onion, red pepper and feta cheese. It's sort of like a gyro on bun. It all just blends together, and we serve it on a yeast roll." Williams said. "We also have the Pony Express ($3.75). It's a teriyaki-marinated pork tenderloin we serve on a toasted Hawaiian roll with mayo and Swiss cheese. It's all simple flavors, but everything blends together in a really amazing way."
Other sandwiches include the "Southside" ($3.75), a traditional hamburger (or cheeseburger) served on a Hawaiian roll, and the "Lucille" ($3.75), which is pulled pork with homemade coleslaw. There's also a "Ritter Park" kids menu with grilled cheese ($3.25) and peanut butter and jelly ($3.00). Side items include chili-cheese tater tots. As Southside Sliders is a food truck, the location and hours vary from day to day (HERALD DISPATCH).
