Out Wayne, as the locals would say, is a quaint shop full of local products and foods.



Twelvepole Trading Post offers coffee, tea, smoothies, and other drinks.



They also have breakfast items, sandwiches, pepperoni rolls, salad, cookies, brownies and more.



They had a burger on special this particular day, so I ordered it with lettuce, cheese, mayo, ketchup, and mustard. I didn't get that freshly grilled flavor, as I don't necessarily think they're set up to cook in that way, but it wasn't bad. Good flavor, but texture and moisture could use some work.



I think I will go with a more simple sandwich next time - like the turkey and jam, which lends itself to smaller kitchen capabilities.



There are also a number of prepared products from smaller local businesses, which I had my eye on, like pickled carrots and chips that mean for a good side.



I also enjoyed a cold, fruity drink with blueberries that was super refreshing and a lovely way to end a meal.



If you find yourself in the area, be sure to stop in to grab a bite to eat or peruse the products they have for sale.

Rocky Tops Pizza is a Wayne-based restaurant with additional locations in Barboursville and Kenova.

"Rocky Tops Pizza was established by the Akers family in Kenova in 1991. The small take-out pizza joint would quickly become a favorite in Wayne County. Today there are four locations serving up pizza with a thin, chewy crust and cheese sticks with a sweet dipping sauce," according to the newspaper.



I ordered the pepperoni rolls, which come with a sweet marinara sauce. An order came with eight small ball-sized pepperoni rolls that were in the shape of a knot.



These were a bit on the too-dark side for me. It dried them out too much, and the herbs and spices of the pepperoni weren't able to shine through.

I found myself in Wayne (rarely) and craving Chinese (always).



I was in luck when I saw China King Buffet. Despite the name, I went with a takeout order so I could get back on the road. 



Simple order: sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, egg roll, crab cheese rangoons. 



These were OK - more hard-fried than I appreciate and a bit on the oily side. But, I won't ever be too mad at a crab rangoon. 



The chicken here was fine - larger pieces than normal. Fried rice was fine too - just the taste of oil dominated most of the flavor here. The eggroll was similar, but I appreciate the harder fry here.

Gino's! This time we're in Wayne to check out the local pizza offerings.



I love that the western locations offer the pepperoni bites, "fresh dough wrapped around tasty pepperoni then seasoned with garlic butter and sprinkled with Romano cheese." So I definitely had to get those, and they are always delicious. I love the little bite-size pieces of pepperoni plus cheese and just tons of garlic and butter.



But I also ordered an Italian sandwich with mayo, and it was delicious. I don't love the warm lettuce, but other than that there was a lot of meat, cheese and veggies in a bun that was toasted. It was a tasty sandwich, and probably one of the best ones I've had from a Gino's location.
