I have this friend. Let's call her Dawn. She is obsessed with pretzels.

And, I get it. A good, homemade pretzel can be pretty tasty. We're not talking about those crunchy ones you find in snacks. Rather, the big, soft ones full of flavor.


We arrived at Brezel first thing in the morning so we had our pick of what was available - asiago, herb, & cracked pepper; potato, sweet pepper & onion; jalapeno cheddar; garlic lover's mozzarella and more.

I like that I can get a small pretzel bite and try a few flavors: I went for the asiago, herb & cracked pepper, as well as the potato, sweet pepper and onion.

Both were tasty - especially dipped in beer cheese!

But first, coffee.

That's been my motto as of late.

1215 Wine Bar & Coffee Lab is a pretty neat place in Cincinnati because by morning, you can get your cuppa joe. And by evening, you can get a glass of wine.

The vibe here is just pretty cool - it's cozy and I could see myself pulling up a chair to do some work.

Instead, though, I just got a coffee - this time!

I went for an iced caramel macchiato.

I wanted a snack, but I abstained. Those pastries looked so tasty!

And my macchiato was delish. Strong. Tasty. Perfect for a pick-me-up for a busy day!

It's the same scenario for me every Sunday: I'm exhausted. I don't feel like cooking. I'm browsing my phone to see what I can get delivered.

And I know I'm not alone - since there has been a rise in food delivery services like Postmates, GrubHub, and UberEats.

But these services are limited in West Virginia. Until now.

DoorDash has burst onto the scene - delivering to Morgantown earlier this month and starting in Charleston today.

They feature cuisine like Italian, Mexican, Pizza, and Thai. My stomach is already growling.

Allez Bakery was not on my planned itinerary. Rather, it was along the walk we were taking, and I thought the name was cute, and it had a little sloth mascot, so we went inside.

We all need encouragement. It took lots of it from Tom’s wife and friends to stop riding bikes every day and get to work baking. Allez Bakery is what happened when he took all the best parts of his friends and applied years of baking in Cincinnati to starting a bakery that would provide for the community. We focus on making sourdough bread, and sandwiches wrapped to go. Allez!

The bakery has fresh-baked loaves of bread.

And some really lovely fresh-baked pastries.

I got this focaccia, chive, cheese piece of heaven, and I still dream about it.




It was savory and cheesy and amazing. I recreate it in my mind daily. I can't wait to get this one again!

I think every city has ~that~ donut place that is a favorite. In Cincinnati, it's Holtman Donuts.

Holtman Donuts had a quick line, so I'm glad we beat the crowd.







They had all sorts of creative donuts - ones topped with Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Fruity Pebbles or Lucky Charms.



I went for a maple bacon one, which is one of their top sellers.
