When driving through Ripley, I had a hankering for dinner - particularly a hot dog.
So I found Heather's Simply Blessed Sweets, which serves a number of cakes and other sweets, as well as a daily specials like sandwiches and dinners.
This small space is all decorated with pastels and lights.
Near the counter, there were a number of cupcakes and scones available. I opted for a vanilla cupcake.
And, I also ordered a hot dog to go - chili, slaw, mustard and onions.
The vanilla cupcake has a unique icing that is thick and sweet, but with depth.
And the hot dog was tasty with a sweeter chili. Have you been here?
New River Curry House is Fayetteville's newest restaurant.
Featuring Indian dishes from the Punjab region of India, near the border with Pakistan, the restaurant has a modern-meets-rustic vibe.
Think wooden accents and potted greenery.
I looked over the menu, and I wanted to try everything.
But I started with an order of Samosas - and I got sides of Tamarind chutney and Raita chutney. One was a sweeter chutney, and the other was close to a tzatziki.
And then paneer pakora - which is cheese and chickpea.
And take a look at this cool drink I had to wash it all down with: Basil Seed - pineapple flavor. It has these little gummy-ish seeds inside. Very unique.
For my entree, I went with chicken tikka masala, which is savory, yet a bit creamy.
And for my side, I went with the potato pave - it's a crispy potato cake.
Bill went for a pork belly, which also look delish.
While at my dentist office, the topic of pepperoni rolls came up. As it often does.
And my hygienist told me that this woman just down the road makes the best pepperoni rolls. It was Connie's Gourmet Kitchen.
So I bugged her for some time to see when she might be making the next batch, and she saved me two so I could sample them.
And boy am I happy she did. The bottom gets just perfectly slightly crisp, and it's packed full of cheese. Sweet dough. Mmm. Have you been?
If you see a tall building in downtown White Sulphur Springs painted like an Italian flag, you've found Bella Italy.
The restaurant was quiet on the day I visited - which meant the waiter's sole attention was on me.
The menu had some standard dishes, but I was really feeling an Italian hoagie on this day.
It came with cold cuts and cheese. I asked for some fixins, and a whole plate of veggies was delivered to me. Yum.
