While driving back from an event, I stopped in Elkins to fuel up - for both the car and myself.
While there are some real tasty options here, I was looking for quick, too.
New China Cook Restaurant is a Chinese buffet that seemed to be the hottest spot for a weekday lunch.
Some of the favorites that I went for included stuffed mushrooms, honey chicken, crab cheese rangoons and more.
I'm told the soups were also top-notch.
Have you ever been?
Lately, I've been on a kick to try all the scenic train rides in West Virginia.
For one, they're fun.
And two, you get to see parts of the state you wouldn't ordinarily see.
But recently, Sara and I took an extra special train ride.
This one involved a murder mystery wine evening.
Through the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad, we booked the train that took us to the High Falls of Cheat and treated us to snacks and wine along the way.
When we were first seated, we were treated to crackers, cheese and grapes.
Then, the wine made its way around. We tried all of them and were treated to one full glass.
During this time, we read over a letter that gave us some insight as to who the murderer for the evening may have been.
The scene played out over the course of the train ride.
And, we were able to get up to the snack train and get some food to eat.
That included spinach artichoke dip, caprese skewers, hummus and other canapes.
Now, just to try the rest of the train rides!
Clara Belle's is an Elkins restaurant where you can find a bit of everything.
Truthfully, I was sucked in when I saw "ramp hot dogs" on the windows.
So I walked in and took a seat.
The interior is fun, with whimsical decorations all over.
Looking over the menu, I saw a few things that caught my eye.
For one, macaroni & cheese.
And, of course, the ramp hot dog - stuffed with ramps and topped with ramp chili.
Have you ever heard of such a thing?
And for dessert, I went with a scoop of ice cream.

TipTop, the beloved coffee shop in Thomas, recently opened an Elkins location.
The coffee shop is trendy and features a variety of coffee beans.
The coffehouse has a few different drinks available: espresso, americano, cortado, cappuccino, latte, iced latte, pour over, tea, hot cocoa, chai late, golden latte, and smoothies.
There also a variety of pastries and other goodies to munch on.
What I really think is unique is the space.
It's a very relaxed, welcoming spot where you can do work.
That's my favorite kind of coffeehouse.
So I ordered a latte with caramel.
And, a blueberry muffin.

Beanders is a well-known bar and grill in Elkins.
I was excited to finally make my way here.
I seated myself and looked over the menu.
Burgers, sandwiches, salads, steaks, pasta - even Mexican!
I settled on something simple: BUFFALO CRACK ~ HOT BUFFALO RANCH CHICKEN DIP. It's served with Chips, Carrots & Celery. I love the "Caution: This stuff is addictive."
