Baby Squirrels Saloon is a new bar in downtown Morgantown.
While we - and mostly everyone else - is primarily there for the drinks, I wanted to try their grub.
These are hot pepper cheese balls! Always a favorite!
I've written about Sandwich U in a few different variations.
But they've moved once again, so I thought it would be a good time to revisit.
I ordered online and went into the store to pick it up - it's now located on Beechurst.
And my sandwich was right there and ready!
The Mountaineer featured gyro meat, cheesesticks, bacon, chicken and secret sauce.
What's your favorite fat sandwich?
Pizza to a college town is like lemonade to a hot day. They just belong together.
Fat Angelo's Pizzeria & Pub has a location in Cheat Lake, and they recently opened another in the Westover area.
Fat Angelo's is well-known for their large pizzas.
But one thing that stuck out to me on their menu, of course, was pepperoni rolls!
They're smaller, bite-size ones that are covered in garlic and parmesan. Yummo.
Every time I turn around, there's a new restaurant in Morgantown that I need to try. I'm not complaining - I love it.
Not too long ago, I checked out Grazer's Chop House, "a family owned Chop House with a Chef driven menu and a comfortable farmhouse atmosphere. We feature artisan cocktails, craft beers, and fine wine alongside genuine hospitality" according to their Facebook.
The lovely Lisa and I tried lunch, so our options were a bit more limited at this time of the day, but that wasn't going to stop us.
We started with an order of "Duck Fat Fries" which are steak fries prepared in duck fat (or liquid gold, according to the menu) and dusted with parmesan and served with creole aioli. These fries were humongous, but had a really nice crisp to them.
And I did taste a hint of the creole in the aioli.
So that I could get a flavor for their beef, I ordered the "DOUBLE STACK CHEESEBURGER - A half-pound of Grazer’s custom ground steak topped with cheddar, lettuce, tomato and onion with creole aioli on a toasted potato roll. "
I love how thin the patties actually were so you get some crisp on the outside and they're slathered in cheese. Not too shabby.
Cool Springs Grocery is a convenience shop attached to a gas station on Kingwood Pike in Morgantown.
They also serve some food, like pizza, chicken strings, cheeseburgers and ... pepperoni rolls!
In fact, they have a bunch of unique pepperoni rolls.
They have bacon & mozzarella or hot pepper cheese, banana peppers & mozzarella or hot pepper cheese, Italian pepperoni & mozzarella or hot pepper cheese, Oliverio's peppers & mozzarella or hot pepper cheese, plus plain ones.
I got one of each variety with the hot pepper cheese! And, I gotta say, I really like the addition of the banana peppers!
Recently, I attended the Childhood Language Center Presents Charleston's Mac & Cheese Cook-Off.
This event is so fun because there are dozens of local folks making macaroni & cheese all for a good cause.
And lucky me, I was able to be a judge!
People's Federal Credit Union - This one was a baked mac and very cheesy.
Capital Insurance Group - This one from Donteako is always amazing and quite sweet. They had my second place vote.
WV Eye Consultants - This was a take on a Thanksgiving macaroni & cheese, fried into a ball with a cranberry sauce on top. Mmmm. They had my third place vote.
Asher Agency - This one had a truffle sauce and had a strong umami flavor - tasty.
Children's Home Society - This one had bacon which always adds some salty flavor.
City of Charleston - The City of Charleston made theirs on a waffle iron (and with waffle batter), topped with sriracha and honey.
Darin Fisher Kitchens/Cory Stout/ Muffin's Meat - This was made with bacon fat and truffle.
Shannon's Cottage Kitchen - Shannon is starting her own home business with the new cottage foods law! And this one had a great flavor.
Recovery Point - Topped with some green onion, this mac & cheese had a bit of freshness.
Thevenin Family - Queso mac & cheese was so creamy!
Herman & Company - This was a super creamy mac & cheese that you could definitely tell had some sour cream or cream cheese in it.
Stephen Fernandez - OK, I may be biased since he's a relative of my best friend's family. But this was SO GOOD. It earned my #1 vote because it had bulgogi, nori, sesame and an amazing flavor.
Big Joe's - Macaroni & cheese topped with pot roast.
Sherry Gordon - This small bite was pretty straightforward.
Jeff's Curbside - Just a little heat.
Bellaire at Devonshire - Topped with pulled pork and BBQ sauce.
Chick-fil-A - This one is pretty straightforward.
Sears Monument - pumpkin mac & cheese!
Jonnie's Meat Market - Always delicious.
Charleston Surgical Hospital - very creamy bowtie pasta.
Edible Arrangements - ham, pineapple mac & cheese.
Rainbow Pride - naturally dyed pastas!
