A new shop in downtown Charleston is doling out unique gelatos and balsamic vinegars!
Stella's is a bright, exciting shop on Hale Street that is still testing out regular hours.
But I caught them on an open day, and my mouth was salivating as soon as I walked in.
It's tough to decide between chocolately or fruity - so I went with both. I went for a caramel flavor and a strawberry gelato.
And then, they topped it with balsamic vinegar for each - and wow. That little bit of salt really brings out the flavor!
Hurricane has an impressive food scene.
From over-the-top milkshakes to bbq, this town has a little bit of everything.
One popular shop also has a lunch counter.
The Hidden Creek Mercantile features locally produced goods, a well as a menu full of sandwiches, smoothies, desserts and more.
The menu at The Merc had quite a few things that caught my eye - like a buffalo chicken quesadilla! - but then I saw the monthly special.
It's a chicken salad melt with swiss cheese and cranberries!
To go with it, I also ordered a "I love my nana" smoothie - with bananas and strawberries.
It came with chips and a pickle.
Have you been here?
What's your favorite item?
Have you ever strung green beans?
I did a long time ago with my neighbor, at her kitchen table.
What you do is snap one end off, take the string down the side with it. Then snap the other end, taking the string with it. Then snap it in half.
I was excited to participate in this year's event to help support Manna Meal.
They serve two meals a day, every day of the year to folks who need it. This event helps collect hundreds of pounds of beans, which are frozen and then used to feed folks all year round.
And, the Capitol Market was sharing fresh, local peaches with honey. It doesn't get any better.

Alfredo's Bistro has a few locations in West Virginia, where they serve Italian and Greek fare.
Located in Lewisburg, the restaurant has a good-sized dining area and it was pretty free!
The menu is expansive, with a wide assortment of dishes.
I went for the "Mixed Pasta," because I can't pass up a mixture of different kinds of pasta. Who can?!
I started with a salad and breadstick.
And then look at this plate! Anything covered in cheese has my name written all over it!
When a friend tells me they have found a good pepperoni roll, I add it to the top of my list.
That was the case with Old Mill Bakery in Hurricane.
This new bakery has been churning out cinnamon rolls and pepperoni rolls that they share on their Facebook page daily.
So when they mentioned they made pepperoni rolls on a day I was free, I made my way there.
The space is huge, with tons of dining areas. There's a space for a community bookshelf. And, there's supposed to be an expansion for a museum.
They had peanut butter cup cupcakes, coconut macaroons and pepperoni rolls - in both hot pepper jack and mozzarella.
Have you had one yet?

Mountaineer Brewfest is a Wheeling beer festival held down near the river.
I didn't have much time, but I wanted to stop by to check it out. With admission, you get a beer stein, a food sample from the local casino and a free-play ticket.
Here's the short rib with cauliflower puree and chips. Yum!
And I got a "Lil Sour B" from Brewstel!
Whit's Frozen Custard is a chain of frozen desserts in about eight states. There is just one in West Virginia: in Vienna.
They have specialties where they have mix-ins for their vanilla custard. Mix it is a "Whitser" and top it is a "Sundae."
I went for the O'Henry George, which has hot fudge, hot caramel and Spanish peanuts.
Which is your favorite?
So I recently had some medical appointments, and I decided to take advantage of the fact that I'd be at CAMC General.
Have you ever heard of Kristi Ann's Bakery? She's a local baker that mostly sells wholesale to area businesses.
But one place you can buy them directly is at the Outtakes gift shop at CAMC.
Have you tried these mini ones with hunks of pepperoni?
