In the words of Virginia Woolf, "One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well."
I've been trying to check out this restaurant for some time, but the hours don't always agree with my schedule. I made it here just as they were closing but through chance, was able to score a cinnamon toast donut.
BUT - I was recently able to go BACK with more time to sit and enjoy this spot.
They have a whole lunch menu - not only donuts!
I sat down for a piece of cheddar and bacon quiche and a side of broccoli & cheese soup (mm cheese).
Yumm.
And this Oreo donut was unreal - no hole in the middle, but filling throughout the light almost crisp interior. Delish.
Cicada Books & Coffee is one of my new favorite spots in Huntington.
The bright blue coffee shop + book store combines two of my favorite things.
This cozy spot has little nooks to browse books and a light & airy space to work while sipping on coffee.
I orderered an iced caramel macchiato with like three pumps of caramel, and it's the new coffee that I hold all other coffees to. And I can't wait to have it again.
Paired with one of these danishes, it was perfection.
This is now the third location of Peace, Love & Little Donuts that I've been to in West Virginia.

The Huntington location has some seating along the wall and is decked in bright purple and orange colors.

Many of the donut offerings are the same, but I saw one I had not tried before: puppy chow.

It's topped with chocolate and powdered sugar and a peanut butter.
What's your favorite donut here?

Thai food is one of my favorites.
So, when I was spending a leisurely day in Huntington and came across Surin of Thailand, I knew I wanted to check it out.
Surin of Thailand actually has a few locations in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and Mississippi. Huntington's is the only in West Virginia.
I looked over the menu and went with my standard pad thai to test the waters. But first, out came a soup - full of mushrooms and scallions.
Then, I ordered the "crab angels," which honestly, I could just live on if I needed to. I love these things no matter where I go.
And the pad thai was a giant helping, and I pour the peanuts all over for some crunch. Really tasty.
Grindstone Coffeeology was a coffee food truck that has turned to a permanent location in Huntington - with a drive-thru!
The coffee menu is simple, and I went with an Americano.
I saw a "Salted Caramel Square" on the menu that I also ordered - not realizing it's a piece of chocolate. Not complaining.
The coffee was deep-flavored and rich. What's your favorite drink here?

Paradise Donuts has two locations in West Virginia: Milton and Huntington.
I recently went to both of these locations to check it all out.
The donuts range from classic glazes ones to more interesting flavors.
Some of the different ones included a maple bacon, gummi bears, and cinnamon toast crunch.
I got one of each!
But there were long johns, fruity pebbles and more, too.
Which is your favorite flavor?
Gummi bear
Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Maple bacon
River's Edge Cafe is a St. Albans restaurant that is a staple in town.
The menu has salads, wings, and more - but those were the main ones I was eyeing!
I ordered six boneless honey bbq wings and nachos to snack on while I caught up on blogs. I did not realize how gigantic this meal would be, so I packed up the nachos for late and downed those wings.
There's just something about wings that reminds me of college. Satisfying.
That giant pile of nachos did not go to waste. Jalapenos were peppered through, giving it some kick. What's your favorite dish here?
