As I slowly try to showcase my favorite products from some vendors at the Morgantown Farmers Market, it's time to touch on Mountain Diamond Longhorns.

Mountain Diamond Longhorns LLC is located near Tunnelton, West Virginia, in Preston County. According to the market website, it is a small farm with a niche market for fine quality, lean, low cholesterol, antibiotic and hormone-free beef. The Texas Longhorn cattle roam the hills and woods on their farm. They give several tours per year and have an annual field day to showcase the cattle and working farm activities. Besides beef, fresh produce is available in season.

It's tough for me NOT to grab one of these beef sticks to snack on while walking through the market in the morning. They're quick and super tasty. BUT, if you're interested in more than just that, they have frozen ground beef available, which makes for a tasty burger.

If you frequent the Morgantown Farmers Market, you're probably familiar with the line that quickly forms around Forever Greene House. Forever Greene House has beefsteak tomatoes and cherry tomatoes, as well as some cucumbers and basil.

The family-owned and operated greenhouse is located in Greene County, Pennsylvania, and produces some of the most delicious tomatoes I've ever had.

Do yourself a favor and grab one of those brown paper bags, stuff it full of these sweet, delicious tomatoes. Go home, add just a bit of salt, and eat every last one. I did, as you can see above, and couldn't resist telling you all about how much I love their tomatoes. Om nom nom.

If you didn't go to last year's Taste of Morgantown, you missed out.

But don't worry. The seventh annual Taste of Morgantown is scheduled for June 10 at the Erickson Alumni Center. The fundraiser, which benefits the American Red Cross, showcases Morgantown restaurants through delicious, innovative dishes. More than 25 restaurants and vendors will be in attendance.

The event takes place on June 10th at the Erickson Alumni Center at WVU from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the event cost $40 per person or $75 for couples. Tickets can be purchased at the American Red Cross office in Morgantown, online at www.RedCross.org/TasteOfMorgantown or at the door the evening of the event.

At the end of the evening a panel of judges will present awards for the best dishes in several categories. Among this year’s participants are Atomic Grill, Bartini, Blueridge Beverage, Coach’s Crab Shack, Iron Horse Tavern, Morgan’s High Street Diner, Morgantown Brewing Company, Mountain State Brewing Company, Table 9, Tailpipes, Terre Café, The Cupcakerie, The Preston County Inn, The Tea Shoppe at Seneca Center, The Wine Bar at Vintner Valley, Tin 202, and Tutto Gelato Café.

Home Industry is a huge pepperoni roll producer, known for their small red, green and purple packaged pepperoni rolls. They serve plain, cheese and hot pepper cheese. They even have one the has sauce and peppers inside, too.

While a lot of the other bakeries produce pizza shells and hoagie buns as well, Home Industry mostly focuses on the pepperoni rolls.

They're a little smaller than some of the others, but they're packed with sliced pepperoni. And they're super tasty.

Rogers and Mazza's is a well-known bakery that took over Marty's Bakery in Clarksburg. They sell a traditional pepperoni roll with harder Italian bread and stick pepperoni that Marty's used to sell, but they also have their own pepperoni roll - the Rogers and Mazza's pepperoni roll is a bit different.

Rogers and Mazza's pepperoni roll is made with a sweeter dough and sliced pepperoni and comes in three different varieties: plain, mozzarella or hot pepper cheese. These can each come in six ounces or three ounces. They also produce mini pepperoni rolls with plain or mozzarella cheese.


I loved these mini ones and dipped them in a sweet pepper sauce they sold. Delicious.
