Have you ever been to a Branson-style variety show? Named after the dinner & a show experiences in Branson, Missouri, this type of entertainment is popular for tourists and motorcoaches.

I've only been to one - the Dixie Stampede. So, I was excited to hear that West Virginia has its very own: The Gandy Dancer Theatre.



You're seated at a table, served all this incredible food and then the performers regale you with all kinds of acts. This evening's performance focused on musical legends over the years.

The meal consisted of rolls, pasta salad, chicken cordon bleu, sliced brisket, green beans, baked potato and dessert.

Located in Harman, Still Hollow Spirits is a new distillery that is producing corn whiskey.

Welcome to Still Hollow Spirits, a farm to bottle distillery located high in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia specializing in traditional mountain style whiskeys and unique botanical infusions. We combine pure spring water with fresh local ingredients to craft one of a kind small batch spirits.

More products, though, are in the works.

For us, small batch means 250 gallons of spring water, 300 pounds of local grain and a lot of backbreaking work going into every mash, ferment and distillation. At Still Hollow, we combine pure spring water with fresh local ingredients to craft one of a kind small batch spirits.

In search of a place to relax for a bit and get a quick bite, I headed to Mama Mia Pizza & Pasta while in Elkins.




The decor has red-checked tablecloths and an archway of grapes when you walk in.

The menu has lunch specials like pizza, chicken parmesan, eggplant parmesan, baked ziti, stuffed shells and ravioli.

It just so happens I got lucky.

Stone Tower Brews in Buckhannon has been in the works for some time, and I just happened to be driving through the area on the day they opened.



Stone Tower Brews is a collaboration from the owners of Fairmont's Joe N' Throw, a restaurant/pottery studio, and Stone Tower Joe, which is a locally roasted coffee company.

The shop serves coffee, beer and some food too!


On this day, I went for coffee only.

Their specialties on the board caught my eye. S'mores is also a favorite, but the ice lavender vanilla just sounded good!

And, afterward, I took a little mini hike to Bickle Knob Observation Tower.

While driving through Buckhannon, I stumbled upon Byrd's House of Donuts - which I think would make a perfect band name!



The donut shop has a case full of filled, glazed and other fun donuts.



Even the seats are covered in cushions!



And, they have ramparoni rolls! This one came with swiss cheese.

And the donuts - this is a lemon filled one!

Next time, I need to try the Maple Nut!



It's a pretty decent-sized space for a bakery, so there were folks gathering at the front of the shop over coffee and donuts.
