If you're a West Virginia University alum, it's likely you've heard about the famous Boone County pig roast.
This WVU alumni event was held at the Madison City Park, and folks from all over came to join in on the festivities. I was lucky enough to hang out with Whitney and Jeremy Hatcher - Boone Co. royalty!
They start roasting the pig early in the morning, and many folks come down early in the day to kayak on the water.
In addition to the pig they roast, they have lots of tasty options for the dinner.
There is BBQ, hot bologna, potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, nachos and cookies.
Yessss.
Plus, they have freshly squeeze lemonade.
And kettle corn! Have you been?

In the former Vintage Room (then RocKa Poke Noodle Bar) is a new restaurant: Embers.
Embers has a very open space, with a cool bar area.
The menu is large and features tacos, sandwiches, burgers and brunch.
For my meal, I ordered three tacos: Maui Wauwi - grilled chicken, pineapple, bacon, jalapeños and drizzled with bbq sauce. Dazed Steak - marinated steak, bacon marmalade, lettuce and shredded cheese. Santa Fe - marinated steak, grilled peppers and onions, lettuce and shredded cheese
Which ones have you tried?

FestivALL is one of my favorite times of year in Charleston.
There's so much going on, and so many incredible artists are highlighted during this time.
And this year, there was a new event: Charleston Taco Festival.
You pay for a ticket - $25ish for General Admission, which came with one drink. Then, you buy tickets individually for tacos. So, I spent an additional $9 to get three tacos.
Our first stop was at Mi Cocina, which had a brisket taco and a chicken taco. That brisket!
Then, we headed over to Books & Brews to check it out, and I heard them say "pepperoni roll taco." That's right: Pepperoni Roll Taco.
It was almost like a filling of a hot pocket was squirted into a tortilla, topped with parmesan and basil.
For dessert, I went with a strawberry scooter crunch taco from Rock City Cake Company. I don't even have words!
Fresh Mint Indian Grill is a new Indian restaurant at the bottom of High Street.
It replaces the former Mother India restaurant.
When I visited, it was lunch time and they had a buffet available.
So, I took advantage of that and filled my place up with samples of everything.
Butter chicken, rice and naan are my go-tos.
Plus kheer and gulab jamun for dessert.
There are vegetarian options and a variety of sauces to accommodate the dishes.
