Macado's is a regional chain restaurant that has a couple locations in West Virginia.
I first tried it a number of years ago in Princeton and just recently stopped at the Beckley location.
The restaurant is known for having a crazy long list of sandwiches, including the Hindenburg, which is made for four - French bread, ham, turkey, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onions, and macado sauce.
I opted for the "Dr. Watson" - grilled chicken breast, melted provolone, ham, lettuce, tomato, mayo, all served on an onion bagel. And a side of potato salad.
What's your favorite sandwich here?
I've heard about Tom's in Oak Hill and Beckley for quite some time, so I was excited to finally mark this place off my list.
Tom's has a drive-thru, which is perfect. The menu features a variety of hot dogs, burgers and ice cream.
I went with one of their "Tom's Dogs," which has mustard, onions, slaw and a choice of chili: original, shugar or spicy chili. You can also get it on a toasted bun or footlong.
I went for a toasted bun (I know it's not traditional), but I enjoy it. And, with shugar chili on it. And for dessert, I went with a "Coal Seam," which has chocolate syrup and salted peanuts.
I've been hunting for the best coffee shops in West Virginia lately.
So when I had to make a trip through Beckley, I made a point to check out HeBrews Coffee Shop.
This roadside coffee stop has a drive-thru for coffee and baked goods.
I went for a latte with caramel and a cheese danish.

I love discovering a new coffee shop!
Beckley is home to a new one called Top Knot Coffee, the second location for this business. The original is in Oak Hill.
This alpaca-themed coffee shop not only has coffee drinks, but it also has woolen goods.
I stopped by just briefly to try a coffee and a baked good.
Yum to a white chocolate mocha!
And, a blueberry muffin!
But there are more filling breakfast options - and tons more pastries that I can't wait to try!
What's your favorite?
The Char is Beckley's premier fine dining restaurant, and I was so excited to finally check it out.
The interior is elegant and special.
And, there's a nice view of the pond from the floor to ceiling windows.
The menu features some really unique options.
But, first, house salad!
And the dish that stood out to me was the "Authentic Italian Stuffed Brascioli."
A brascioli here is essentially rolled meat with a sauce.
Tasty! And unique!
Plus hot fudge cake for dessert! What's your favorite?
Padrino's is an Italian restaurant in Beckley, which is well-known for its delicious entrees in the heart of southern West Virginia.
The menu features things like calzones, pizzas, baked entrees, and other dinner specials.
I went for the penne alla vodka, which is served with bacon, onion and a vodka cream sauce. MMmm.
But, first, garlic bread!
