I love drive-in theaters.

Just before summer ended, I was able to get to the Sunset Drive-In Theater in Shinnston.

In fact, we were a bit early, so we stopped by the adjoining Sunset Ellis Restaurant for a bite to eat before the movie started.

The restaurant has breakfast, homestyle favorites, sandwiches, pasta and even seafood.

The thing that caught my eye was the little sticky note up in the corner that said rigatoni with salad. Sign me up!

I opted for a house salad, which came with a few hunks of tomato and my choice of French dressing.

And then my rigatoni - look at these little rigatonis! They're stout. I've never seen this shape before, but I thought it was adorable.

And we had a great setup for the movie - and I got more concessions there (just popcorn and milk duds)

Fit for a queen.

This Shinnston diner has been a staple in the community for years.

Jimmy's Diner has an expansive menu with many Italian-inspired dishes.

They are home to the "Rosie," which Rosie’s Sausage Sandwich Homemade Sausage Smothered In Peppers, Onion, & Mozzarella or Lettuce, Tomato, & Mayo.

So, of course I had to try the Rosie, and I got it with peppers and onions (child Candace would be shocked at that!).

It's certainly a filling meal, and there are many other items on the menu in the same vein.

Yum!

While in the area, I stopped at Watters Smith Memorial State Park and Cedar Creek State Park!

But the ice cream is good! The ix-ins were a bit dry -- or maybe that's because I devoured it so fast, it didn't have a chance to get mixed in better. But, damn, I love me some ice cream and this was no exception. Smooth, silky sweet. Yum.
