My dad fell ill not too long ago, and we spent a good bit of time in Weirton.
My mom and I tried some new restaurants around the city while in the area.
Spicy Gringo's is a popular Mexican restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
My mom went for a quesadilla, while I opted for a mini burrito sampler.
The sampler included shredded beef, shredded chicken, chorizo, choricken (chicken and chorizo) and Yucatan Chicken (orange juice, mango, ginger, and chicken).

I was surprised and excited to see a Vietnamese restaurant in Weirton.
Pho Ha Nam is located where the old Walmart used to be (Weirton looks so different to me now!).
They primarily have pho and banh mi, but I saw pad thai on the menu - which is one of my all-time favorites. So I went with that and a strawberry smoothie boba.
Both are so tasty!
La Cucina Italian Grill is a restaurant in Weirton that focuses on authentic cuisine and traditional wine. I never turn down pasta, so I was excited to try this place for lunch.
The interior is welcoming, with warm tones and some exposed brick art dotting the walls.
The menu has soup, homemade meatballs, pastas and pizzas.
First, I started with a house salad with French dressing - complete with giant hunks of fresh tomatoes.
Then, there were house rolls topped with cheese and herbs.
And for my entree - lobster ravioli with a rose sauce. This has me written all over it. Creamy, rich, flavorful. It hit all the right notes. Have you been?

Granato's Deli is a cool shop in Weirton that has all the tastiest foods.
If you're looking for local peppers or olives, they got 'em.
Types of pasta that may not be in your local grocery? Yep.
Italian cheeses? Oh yes.
Even prepared salads? Absolutely. I went for a pasta salad with sun-dried tomatoes and rigatoni.
I could live on pasta salad, I think.
What's your favorite thing here?
I love that food truck festivals are becoming a thing.
It's so fun to go to an event where there are a dozen or so places to choose from.
Weirton Food Tuck Festival was held this past weekend.
There were handful of places I wanted to try, but at the top of my list was Steel City Chimneys.
This food truck sells these Hungarian pastries that are wrapped around wooden cylinders and coated in sugar.
They had a few different flavors, and I went with the cookies & cream one.
Have you tried one?
Reading one of those "must try" lists that I always do, I came across the "frenchburger."
This burger is apparently native to my part of West Virginia - Weirton!
Yet, I had never heard of it. It was sold at Frank's, which is no longer around, and then other restaurants picked up this regional take on the burger.
The one that is most noted for carrying it is Patty's Family Restaurant in Weirton.
This burger is served with grilled peppers and onions, cheese, and with a spicy beef sauce on grilled bread.
And to help taper the spiciness, I went with a side of applesauce.
I was excited to finally try this dish, and I think I may have to do some more exploring!
My local coffee go-to growing up was from the local convenience store.
There weren't really a ton of coffee shops in the area - despite many places seemingly advertising so.
So, I was delighted to learn about The Coffee Bean.
Though they do have gambling in the back, the front is a full-fledged coffee shop.
And there are lots of fun drinks available.
I went with a blended Caramello drink.
Which means it's essentially a coffee milkshake.
