Frametown Frametown Edition: Granny's Kitchen 10:00 AM Granny's Kitchen in Frametown has changed names a few times, but one thing remains: the great homestyle cooking. Not only do they have a restaurant, but they have a walk-up ice cream window. Mmm. I was just passing through, so I went simple: A West Virginia-style hot dog. Hot dog with chili, slaw, mustard and onions on a grilled bun. The peanut surprise - like a Peanut Buster Parfait from DQ - had vanilla soft serve, peanuts and hot fudge. Philippi Philippi Edition: Lil' Moes 10:00 AM Lil' Moes is a Philippi restaurant that has been around for quite some time. It's a bar atmosphere, and it's long and narrow but with a surprising amount of space. I wasn't super hungry, but I definitely wanted to get a bite to eat. I ordered boneless wings (I know, I know, but they're easier to eat). These are honey bbq with bleu cheese. I never eat the celery - because it may be the worst vegetable ever created - but if you're eating hot wings, it can be a godsend. AND DON'T LOOK BELOW if mummies scare you. West Union West Union Edition: The Fairview 10:00 AM The Fairview is a restaurant that commands your attention driving along the highway. With its fun purple font and big size, it's one of not very many sights along this stretch. The restaurant features mostly comfort food items that will fill you up for most of the day. Ellenboro Ellenboro Edition: Dodd's Log Cabin Grill 10:00 AM Dodd's Log Cabin Grill had made the 101 list of Most Unique Places To Dine in West Virginia years ago, but I had never made it out this way. Ellenboro isn't typically on any of my main routes, but recently when I was in the area, I went to check it out! It has a log cabin theme (shocking, I know), with this cute lil fish guy who holds the salt and pepper. The menu featured omelettes, french toast, wraps, biscuits and gravy and more for breakfast. I am so straightforward with my breakfast, and usually get an easy sandwich of some sort. I got a sausage, egg and cheese bagel here. Charleston Charleston Edition: Husson's Pizza - South Hills 10:00 AM Husson's is a Charleston institution. If you ask someone from Charleston what their favorite pizza is, they'll likely say Husson's. And there are a few different locations. Each time I go somewhere, I try to try a new branch. The South Hills Husson's is actually one of the first ones I tried - it was just pre-blog days. So it was time for a revisit!
