Have you ever had cream cheese on your pizza? What about honey? To be honest, both sound pretty good to me, but I had never heard of them until my visit to Kansas.
And, in Lawrence, they do both.
At Pyramid Pizza, you can get them all in one. I ordered the "Cream Cheese Delight" - "So good we’re making it our signature! A layer of delicious cream cheese underneath our house marinara topped with three toppings of your choosing. Everything’s better with cream cheese!" I got mine with mushrooms.
And on the counter, there are little containers full of honey. So, yes, I dunked that super savory pizza into the honey and it was delish.
The Newell DiCarlo's Pizza was the last location in West Virginia that I had yet to try.
So when I made my way to the top of the state, this DiCarlo's location was at the top of my list.
The location is fairly small, and I ordered two pieces with pepperoni and mushrooms.
The cheese melted pretty quickly and perfectly over the crust.
The Burger Stand at The Casbah is a well-known burger shop in Lawrence.
It's a popular spot, so I had a little wait when I walked in. Once I got to the counter, though, I put in an order for the Kobe Burger - American Kobe beef, pickled red onions, truffle butter, tomato-aioli sauce & assorted seasonal greens. Plus a side of truffle fries.
Then, I took a seat and waited for my name to be called.
It's a big burger! And very juicy, with sauces overflowing. Have you been here?
One of my favorite days of the year is the Great Pepperoni Roll Cookoff in Morgantown. Now in its fifth year, the festival is something that draws folks near and far. And I'm lucky to be one of the judges.
This and That Bakery was a new one to me - they had some nice herbs and flavors throughout the dough that I really liked.
Mid-Atlantic Market - this is always a crowd favorite. They have mozzarella, provolone and pepperjack cheese ones. Plus marinara. The outside is like this buttery, golden, slightly crisp exterior.
Emi's Edibles - They came with a pretzel pepperoni roll with a side of cheese. Definitely a cool spin on a pepperoni roll.
Bourbon Prime had a bit of a different pepperoni roll than I recall. Definitely a crispier, breadier version.

Screech Owl Brewing uses the spent grain from brewing to create their pepperoni roll, which is just so unique. It gives it a
The Pizza Place is a new contender. They make a tasty pepperoni roll that is most reminiscent of a portable pizza.
Tygart Valley Bulk Foods is a pretty traditional pepperoni roll that is reminiscent of the ones folks love from school.
Coop's Buns is a crowd-favorite, with its piping hot rolls stuff with tons of pepperoni and cheese.
Finally, Vocelli's made a solid appearance with these bite-size pepperoni rolls complete with dipping sauce.
