Basketball is a big deal in Lawrence, Kansas. So much so that they even have a town-favorite dish named after the basketball coach.
At 23rd Street Brewery, they serve "Bill Self Pasta."
Matt Llewellyn, managing partner at the brewery, doesn’t have scientific polls to prove it but says this about the Bill Self pasta: “It’s probably the most ordered dish in Lawrence, Kansas.” Making up 7 percent or so of the busy brewery’s total sales, he said, this dish features fiery-hot buffalo fried chicken tenders over creamy big-shell mac ‘n’ cheese. It can only help to be named after Kansas University’s beloved, national championship-winning men’s basketball coach Bill Self. (SOURCE)

So, we ordered this pasta, and I also tried the "Biera Cranberry Sour," which is named for the Celtic goddess of winter this kettle soured ale is brewed with fresh Cara Cara orange peel and cranberries.
This pasta - "An amazing dish inspired by our amazing coach! Our made from scratch mac and cheese baked to perfection and topped with buffalo chicken tenders."
Wow, those giant shells are full of deliciously cheesy cheese and topped with spicy buffalo chicken.
Have you tried it?

Fayetteville's Big Dam Pizza moved locations to be in more of downtown Fayetteville proper.
Known for have gigantic slices of pizza, this shop makes it so you don't really need more than one slice.
I ordered one with mushrooms, as well as a pepperoni roll.
Look at that giant piece! Have you been here yet?
Have you ever had cream cheese on your pizza? What about honey? To be honest, both sound pretty good to me, but I had never heard of them until my visit to Kansas.
And, in Lawrence, they do both.
At Pyramid Pizza, you can get them all in one. I ordered the "Cream Cheese Delight" - "So good we’re making it our signature! A layer of delicious cream cheese underneath our house marinara topped with three toppings of your choosing. Everything’s better with cream cheese!" I got mine with mushrooms.
And on the counter, there are little containers full of honey. So, yes, I dunked that super savory pizza into the honey and it was delish.
The Newell DiCarlo's Pizza was the last location in West Virginia that I had yet to try.
So when I made my way to the top of the state, this DiCarlo's location was at the top of my list.
The location is fairly small, and I ordered two pieces with pepperoni and mushrooms.
The cheese melted pretty quickly and perfectly over the crust.
