After a long day of travel, I found myself in Elkview starving. I had heard of Roni's Pizza Bar in the area, so I put a call in for a takeout order.
They have a namesake roll - Roni Roll - which has your choice of 3 pizza toppings and cheese rolled up and baked in a homemade dough and served with marinara.
I went for a spinach, mushroom and black olive roll. Have you been?
As a friend and I embarked on a road trip, I stopped at Krispy Kreme to get us some of the summer-inspired doughnuts.
The fruity doughnuts include pineapple, key lime and strawberry. They each have a little sugar decoration that makes them look like the fruit.
They're in stores through June 16. Which is your favorite? My vote goes to pineapple.
I'm always trying to college wine from West Virginia wineries.
Broken Tractor Winery has been on my radar for some time, but only recently was I able to check it out.
They don't have set hours, so reach out to schedule a time to visit.
They also have a cabin, paintball field and more.
Have you tried this winery?
Taste-Of-ALL was held this past weekend, and it's always a nice taste of the upcoming FestivALL.
My friend Meghan and I headed out to get samples from area restaurants. New this year was Chow Thai, so I was excited to try their "larb" which is a sort of meat salad with spices in a lettuce wrap.
I also tried the "Korean meatball" from Ichiban, which was a departure from my typical order of Almost Heaven maki here.
Big Joe's was serving up "Buffalo Pork Belly Chicharron" which you can see above.
And then I had to try a little bit of everything at Recovery Sports Grill: Buffalo Chicken Wonton, Crispy Artichoke with Lemon Garlic Aioli and a Maryland Crabcake.
For dessert, I got a butter pecan ice cream cone from Ellen's Homemade Ice Cream.
And, we ended our visit by watching a pepperoni roll walk - Charleston's take on a cakewalk. Prior to this event, I had no idea what a cakewalk was. But I can tell you, I now prefer a pepperoni roll walk.
Winners: Brick Salt Bar + Kitchen took home top honors, as did chef Brentford Young from Four Points during the Chef's Challenge cookoff.
