I recently was able to ride the New River Train Excursions, which takes riders from Huntington to Hinton to experience Railroad Days.
It felt like my first "official" train ride - the only others I've done really being at Cass.
I was in car #9 - Lake Pepin!
The train is designed to go through the gorge at peak fall foliage. It was a little late here, but still amazing views.
Once we got to Railroad Days, there were so many delicious goodies - like kettle corn.
And local syrup!
The Ritz Theatre is a local theatre, and I was able to go inside!
They were featuring these "popcorn sundaes," which is a layer of popcorn, candy and a syrup.
So, I definitely had to try it.
And I took a little tour of the theater while here - I would love to come see a show!
The perfect combo of salty & sweet.
There is a small restaurant downtown called Kirk's Market & Cafe, where I ran into to warm up a bit.
They have a small menu of options - but the hot chocolate caught my eye.
While in there, though, I saw these apple hand pies and needed one of those, too.
They even had homemade fudge.
Yum!
Who could resist?
OK and another favorite was Tammy's Chocolate Cravings.
These caramel apples were out of this world.
The one I got was caramel, milk chocolate and white chocolate reese cups.
Easily the best candy apple I've ever had.
And she had all sorts of different flavors!
Have you been on this adventure? What's your favorite?
