Settebello was established in 2005 and was one of the first pizzerias in the United States to recreate Pizza Napoletana as it has been made in Napoli for centuries. Napoli, Italy is the birthplace of pizza and one of the most unique, chaotic and beautiful cities in the world. Settebello was created to re-create Pizza Napoletana as it has been made in Napoli for more than 200 years, according to the restaurant's website.



I ordered the Margherita, which legend says originated in Naples in honor of the Queen of Italy, Margherita of Savoy, because the toppings are tomato (red), mozzarella (white), and basil (green) like the flag. It seemed as close to the original available, and I wanted that.



The pizza has a thin, flexible crust with spots of char from the wood-fired oven. The tomato sauce tastes like fresh tomatoes with minimal interference. The mozzarella was mild and not overwhelming. The basil acted as a supporting star. Overall, simple ingredients that shine brighter together.



I did get a punchy beet and goat cheese salad, which peppered my palate with exciting flavors. It also had almonds, balsamic reduction and arugula. Some nice textures and contrast here.  And, I topped it all off with some delicious gelato. Smooth, not ice cold, and super satisfying.
