On my venture to figure out which Mexican restaurant in the Kanawha Valley is my favorite, I tried out Casa Garcia with Dawn on Cinco de Mayo.
Located in the Riverwalk Plaza, the parking lot is busy. But I feel like that's a good sign.
After a few moments, we were seated. First order of business? Margs.
Second? Queso.
These two things alone are typically enough to brighten up any day. But, I didn't stop there, of course.
For my main meal, I ordered the Special Burrito, which had chicken, peppers, onions and topped with queso and ranchero sauce.
And dessert? Fried ice cream, always.

I'm about out of Tudor's Biscuit Worlds in the Kanawha Valley after this most recent trip to the Dunbar location.
'My go-to is a sausage biscuit (+ grape jelly), plus chocolate milk. On this day, I went crazy and added tater rounds.

La Carreta is a Mexican restaurant in Kanawha City that seemed like a perfect option for a quick work lunch.
There's plenty of parking, especially around back where there's also an additional entrance.
Look at these cuties!
The menu features typical Mexican-American fare - but first, chips & salsa.
For my entree, I went with the "La Casa Special."
La Casa Special is two rolled flour burritos with cheese sauce on top. I got one beef and one chicken.
Sara got a taco salad.

I've passed by Waffle Hut in Flatwoods for years. As the token rest stop along 79, Flatwoods is always a good place to fill up or grab a bite.
But in all that time, I've never stopped at Waffle Hut. Maybe because I opt for the drive-thru or am short on time, but I found myself at the right time and place to make it happen.
They are open 24 hours a day and serve breakfast all day.
And, good news for me, they also served lunch/dinner at 10 a.m. Because I read that the honey dipped chicken is great. So, I got that with a side of corn and mashed potatoes. And rolls!
