I recently stayed at a beautiful cabin in Peterstown with my partner and we ventured to town for lunch the next day. It's a fairly small community, but fun fact: "An alluvial diamond weighing 34.48 carats (6.896 g), largest to date found in North America was discovered here in April 1928, by William P. "Punch" Jones and his father Grover C. Jones, Sr., while pitching horseshoes in the home yard of Mrs. and Mrs. Grover C. Jones. "Punch" was later killed in combat during World War II. Mr. and Mrs. Grover C. Jones still retain ownership of the diamond," according to a historical marker.
Sunfresh Market offers some jams and sauces for sale, as well as a full sandwich menu with sliced deli meats. The space is a decent size with several tables and local goods lining the perimeter of the restaurant.
I ordered The Market Italian, which came with honey, ham, Genoa, salami, pepperoni, banana peppers, provolone, cheese, lettuce, tomato, Italian dressing and mayo on a hoagie. The sandwich packed a punch. it has an acidic tang that made me pucker, but I did enjoy it. I think one or two fewer peppers would make the sandwich eat better. And, I will never not order the pasta salad. I loved these tight little rotini pastas coated with Italian dressing.
