Mason Dixon Barbecue Co. is a new restaurant in Moundsville.
A lot of folks tend to think of West Virginia only being below the Mason Dixon Line, and for folks like me who are from the Northern Panhandle, it's important to remember us.
Raised on a farm in Marshall County, WV, Patrick Fisher grew up surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Mason Dixon. Patrick is a combat veteran of the war in Afghanistan. After proudly serving 6 years in the United States Army he enrolled in West Liberty University College of Business and created Mason Dixon Barbecue Company. Since 2013, Patrick has been smoking his own brand barbecue featuring his homemade Mason Dixon barbecue sauce.
My dad actually works in Moundsville, and when I stopped here along my drive to Pittsburgh, I sent him a quick text to see if he may be available for lunch. To my surprise and delight, he was! So he met me here, and we tried a few things on the menu.
I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a side of potato salad. And then I ended up getting a side of macaroni & cheese too!
It's a house-rubbed pork shoulder smoked with West Virginia white oak, pulled, and served with The Original sauce on an Italian bun. The bun was lightly toasted, and that bbq sauce had a nice tang to it. Pretty tasty!
