There's just something about soul food that ~speaks~ to my soul. And, while on a visit to Charleston recently, I stopped to check out a new soul food restaurant - Somethin' Good Soul Food.
Somethin' Good Soul Food, located in South Charleston, opened just last month and is already receiving great reviews.
The menu has a meat+2 option with their lunch combos: ribs, Mama Neisy's fried chicken, barbecued chicken, beef brisket, Cousin Doug's pulled pork - those all come with a choice of two sides, cornbread and onions.
Sides are Grandma Shirley's cabbage, Auntie Monica's baked beans, Grandma Cookie's greens, Momma Fran's candied yams, Uncle Rennie's pinto beans, Momma Fran's mac & cheese and more.
They even had a couple desserts - Lo & Smell's peach cobbler and Christina's sweet potato pie.
So, I went with pulled pork, mac & cheese and candied yams. Those are three of my favorites. And, they did not disappoint. This place is serving up some seriously good comfort food, and I can't wait to go back.
